Power Wise Systems carry out the installation of pump house equipment and structured wiring systems.  We realise how important a new installation is to all parties involved and especially to the end user.

When major projects are undertaken, we at Power Wise Systems understand the need for all stages in the process of the project to run to schedule and on time.

Our installation team are fully conversant with all pump room layouts and will undertake the pump room as a full project or suited to the clients needs.  This starts with the installation of the pipework and fire pumps, to the structured wiring, and all trace heating and pipe insulation of outside lines.

We appreciate that all pump room designs vary according to the company who is carrying out the complete project and can adapt the below specification to suit all needs of our client and the end user.

Power Wise Systems are full members of the Electrical Contractors Association (ECA) so can give our clients the added peace of mind that all of our installations are carried out to the highest of standards.  Our electrical engineers are fully qualified and have many years experience of working within the fire pump industry, particularly with integrated wiring systems. The aim of the Electrical Contractors Association is to ensure that electrical installation work is undertaken by qualified people to high standards of quality and safety and to terms which are equitable to both the client and installer.

All of our electrical installations are covered by the ECA warranty for a period of 6 years from the completion of the installation and also carry the highly recognised ECA warranty.  The cover of the ECA Bond is provided at no additional cost to clients of ECA registered members – subject to the terms and conditions of the scheme – and supports the highest level of accountability and protection provided by anybody representing or qualifying electrical installation companies.

The efficiency and safety of electrical systems is dependent on their proper design, installation and maintenance. If work is poor or faulty it may cause failure leading to injury, damage, inconvenience and loss. By choosing an ECA member to conduct your electrical work you minimise this risk as members not only have to be professionally qualified but they are also covered by guarantees backed by insurers.

This work includes the design and installation of the services needed in homes, schools, hospitals, factories, industrial plants and commercial premises.  In addition to traditional power and lighting outlets these installations may include complex high technology control, telephone, data communications and security systems.

Sprinkler Pump Room
Standard Electrical Installations

Our standard LPC/FM/NFPA20 Sprinkler Pump Room Electrical Installations will allow for the following:

  •   415Vac Distribution Board (up to 10 way) to suit local supplies
      1 x 3Kwe Heater/Air Curtain
      4 x Vapour proof Fluorescent Luminaires
      1 x Room Thermostat
      1 x Emergency Luminaire
      1 x Emergency Light Test Switch
  1 x Residual Current Device rated 13 amp socket

LPC/FM/NFPA20 Structured Wiring Systems

  •   Distribution Board up to 24 circuits.  All circuits will be protected via a designated mechanical circuit breaker.
  Lighting Circuit up to 4 Vapour Proof Fluorescent Luminaires protected via a designated mechanical circuit breaker.
  Emergency Bulk Head light fitting wired in series to the above lighting circuit.  This will include a battery back up in the event of power failure.
  Heating Circuit to include 3Kwe fan heater/air curtain and 1 x room thermostat protected via a designated mechanical circuit breaker.
  Auxiliary Power Supply Circuit to include 1 x twin Residual Current Device socket with test facility protected via a designated mechanical circuit breaker.
  Water storage tank immersion heater circuit to be wired in steel wired armoured cable supported by a unistrut/electrical tray system and protected via a designated mechanical circuit breaker.
  Trace Heating Supply Circuit to be via an un-switched fused spur and protected via a designated mechanical circuit breaker.

LPC/FM/NFPA20 Structured Fire Pump Wiring Systems

  •  System Jockey Pump
This pump’s electrical supply will be taken directly from the distribution board to it’s designated direct online starter unit and protected via it’s own triple pole mechanical circuit breaker rated in line with the pump’s motor.  The pump’s starter unit will then be wired to the pump’s motor.
  •    Electric Fire Pumps
This pump’s electrical supply will have it’s own designated power directly fed into a designated switched isolator.  This supply will then be terminated into the pump’s controller and from the controller to the pump’s terminal box.
  •   Diesel Fire Pumps
This pump’s electrical supply will be taken directly from the distribution board to the diesel fire pump controller and protected via it’s own mechanical circuit breaker.
  •   Pump Test Initiation Board
All pump pressure switches within this board will be terminated to and from each designated fire pump controller.

LPC/FM/NFPA20 Structured Fire Pump Wiring Systems

Fire Pumps Remote Alarm Monitoring Systems
All remote alarm signals evident within each controller will be terminated and an alarm cable run of up to 50 metres is allowed for.
The remote alarm monitoring unit power supply will be installed via an un-switched fused spur and terminated as OEM specifications.

Wiring Specifications
All internal pump room wiring will be protected by steel galvanised conduit or steel galvanised box section.
Before terminations on any equipment subject to vibration, there will be flexible PVC steel armoured conduit to allow for this.
All external wiring exposed to the elements will be of the steel wired armoured type cable.
All cable will be supported by the means of either a unistrut system or an electrical tray system.

All cabling used will be rated within the newly revised 17th edition regulations and suitably protected by the means of a mechanical circuit breaker or residual current device.

Pricing
Here at Power Wise Systems we recognize that all fire pump installations are unique to both our clients and the end users requirements.  With this in mind, each electrical installation is competitively priced individually on application.
